NASA Science News for January 16, 2005

The ESA Huygens probe parachuted to Titan on Jan. 14th, landed safely, and transmitted the first sounds and pictures from the surface of Saturn’s giant moon.

Just behind the probe umbrella shaped natives dangled stems in the gently swirling surf and sipped methane coladas, seemingly non-plussed at the sudden appearance of the overdressed, overweight, and possible autistic alien in their midst (whose only response to their initial inquiries in the form of polite third person gas signatures was an incomprehensible form of angular twitches). This makes them both a civilized and sensitive race, and worthy of leaving alone.
